Napapiiri recreation area

Napapiiri recreation area is a well-equipped hiking destination for the whole family. It is situated about 20 kilometres from Rovaniemi to north. You can find several nature trails in the area. The forest trail of Könkäänvaara hill goes through forests of different ages to the rocky top of Könkäänvaara. The trail of Vaattunkivaara hill starts from Vikaköngäs falls and goes through the top of Vaattunkivaara hill. There is a resting spot and a observation tower along the trail. In Könkäänsaari island there is a one kilometre bird trail. Disabled persons have been considered in the constructions. It is also easy to visit the plant and mushroom trails of Kielosaari island. A seven kilometre swamp trail presents swamp nature in Vianaava. You can get to know the most gorgeous rapids and variable nature of Raudanjoki river by hiking the trail between Vikaköngäs and vaattunkiköngäas falls. From the north of the road E4 near the crossroads of the Vaattunkiköngäs falls leaves a four kilometre trail of "Pikku-Romppa" to the Sortovaara hill.
